2026 IN KENYA
What is Encompass?
Encompass is an experiential education program built at the intersection of study abroad, nature-based education, mindfulness, and play.
Encompass offers Stamps Scholars the opportunity to spend three weeks in Kenya broadening their horizons, reflecting on their experiences, and planning for the future.
-
The Encompass program will offer you a chance for reflection, a series of challenges, and many opportunities for growth. This exciting adventure will be filled with fun and meaningful connection!
During the first part of the program, we will live at Batian’s View, an experiential education campus in Naro Moru, Kenya, three hours north of Nairobi. Each day, we will have workshops and activities dedicated to helping students reflect and plan, on the one hand, and build leadership and group skills, on the other. We will also learn about Kenyan history, have lessons in basic Swahili, and connect with the community nearby. Walks and long hikes will help us appreciate where we are, acclimate to the altitude, and prepare for our mountain trek. Underlying all of this will be a chance to consider one’s place in life, in the world, and in nature.
We will also venture out for a three-day, two-night wildlife safari to Samburu in northern Kenya. Later we will devote four days to climbing Mt. Kenya, Africa’s second highest mountain. Our trek will include a summit attempt to Point Lenana at 16,355 feet.
-
Encompass is designed for current Stamps Scholars who want an immersive experience learning more about themselves, living in another country, and experiencing the natural world.
The program is pitched to students entering their junior and senior years.
The instructors, Dodie, Melissa, and Maggie, are skilled facilitators and experienced mentors who are eager to connect with students!

In 2026, Encompass will take place in Kenya.
We will be outside the town of Naro Moru, just over 100 miles north of Nairobi. Our base will be Batian’s View, an experiential education and retreat center, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. We will stay at Batian’s View and do many of our activities there. We will also explore the local area, travel to northern Kenya for a safari, and climb Mount Kenya.
-
Our 2026 program will run from Sunday, July 12th to Saturday, August 1st.
We will meet at Jomo Kenyatta International Aiport in Nairobi on the first day and take you back there on the last day. During these three weeks, students should expect to be immersed in life in Kenya!
