While Encompass is not a credit-bearing college course, you may be able to apply for independent study or honors credit from your home institution.

The group size for Kenya 2026 is limited to 18 participants.

There are no academic or experiential prerequisites for Encompass, but students should come open to try new things and ready to be part of a community that supports its members in taking on various challenges.
Some of these challenges will be physical, like a high ropes course and our mountain trek. We will do hikes to acclimate to the altitude, and participants should be able to comfortably walk at least three miles before they arrive.

Yes! You need to have a valid passport for travel, and it will need to have an expiration date at least six months after you return to the U.S. The passport must also have at least two blank pages for travel.
If you do not have a passport, please apply immediately. (For a U.S. passport, you can start the process here.)
Make a photocopy of your passport I.D. page, keep it separate from the passport, and bring both with you to Kenya. If you lose your passport, the photocopy will make it easier to reissue your passport. -
Yes. You will be a tourist in Kenya so you have to have a visa. Kenya uses an electronic visa called Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), and you must be approved for an eTA before you travel. These eTA applications usually take three days to process (but may take longer), and you can apply up to three months before your journey.
