Partners: Batian's View

Encompass works closely with the leadership and expertise at Batian’s View.

Since 2003 Batian’s View has been a center for team building and experiential learning for corporate, school, and adventure groups. The Batian’s View site was previously the Kenyan base of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), and many of the leadership and staff have NOLS experience.

The directors of Batian’s View are Fred Roberts and Elizabeth Goodwin. Fred (top left) is a teacher and former NOLS director who runs a service learning course for high school students each summer. Elizabeth (bottom left) has worked as a community development practitioner and is a former Peace Corps volunteer. The program coordinators at Batian’s View are Mary Wairimu and Peter Kafuna. Mary (top right) has served three different NOLS program locations and was the equipment director in Kenya. Peter (bottom right) spent eleven years as a NOLS instructor in Kenya and the U.S., and three years as operations manager in East Africa.
